were tossed from the home team and caught in mid-air.
I ran out to short stop, got into the zone
and hoped one day I'd have a glove of my own

Baseball brings out the kid in us because it is such a kid-friendly game. That is obvious in books that are hitting the shelves.

A Glove of Their Own by Debbie Moldovan, Keri Conkling and Lisa Funari-Willever and illustrated by Lauren Lambiase is a story of san?dlot kids who inspire an adult to share in their experience.

The little we had was so worn out and old, that a new bat or new cleats
was worth more than gold.

It also inspired Bob Salomon, a New Jersey state worker to make the book a personal project and a fund-raiser for kids and baseball.

His efforts have picked up sponsors from Rawlings to Louisville Slugger to Modell's, and endorsements from major leaguers. It also spawned the website, www.agloveoftheirown.com.

"I'm a Little League dad and father of two," said Salomon. "I read this book, I got chills. I started calling people. I followed my heart, my passion. Parents have loved it because it is a message to their kids to do what is fair and what's right and it reminds them of their childhood."
Ryan's Quest Fest 2

Franklin Mason Press and author, Lisa Funari-Willever will be working with  the family of 4 year old, Ryan Schultz, a Hamilton, NJ boy diagnosed last year with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy.  Ryan's story has moved everyone who hears it and he has brought the community together to stand by his side.

Autographed copies of Lisa Funari-Willever's titles will be on hand at the 2nd Annual Ryan's Quest Fest to be held on June 7th at Tall Cedars in Hamilton, NJ.  50% of all books sold will be donated to Ryan's Quest, founded by his parents, Dave Schultz, a Hamilton Police Officer and Maria Schultz, a Hamilton teacher.

In addition, FMP has selected Ryan's Quest as the designated charity for the upcoming Nicky Fifth book, Passport to the Garden State.  A portion of the book's profits will be donated to Ryan's Quest and 1-2 pages will be dedicated to share Ryan's story with our readers.  Finally, Lisa will include Ryan as a character in this realistic fiction story based in New Jersey.  More details to follow.

For more information on how to get involved or support Ryan, a truly amazing character himself, visit www.ryansquest.org.
Congratulations, Nicky Fifth!
